Victoria N. Ferrentino, Gavrila A. Brotz, and Alexandra S. Farren Obtain Defense Verdict for Hospital in Ocala, Florida

Ms. Ferrentino, Ms. Brotz, and Ms. Farren won a defense verdict for a hospital in Ocala, Florida. As trial counsel for the hospital, Ms. Ferrentino successfully defended claims that it was liable for alleged malpractice on the part of a neurosurgeon who had temporary privileges to treat patients at the hospital. The plaintiffs had alleged that the neurosurgeon was the hospital's employee, agent, or apparent agent. After two weeks of trial, the jury swiftly determined that the neurosurgeon was not negligent, a complete win for the hospital. The plaintiffs' additional claims that the neurosurgeon had been negligently credentialed by the hospital had been successfully bifurcated from the main trial by Ms. Brotz, the second trial of which was mooted by the defense verdict.
